With its artificial intelligence solution MAX Anesthésie, now called HEKO, BOTdesign facilitates pre-anesthesia consultations, ensures patient safety, and optimizes doctors’ time and strategy.

BOTdesign’s mission, as a leading player in digital health, is to simplify care pathways through artificial intelligence, both for patients and healthcare professionals.

MAX Anesthésie is a platform that collects patient data through an interactive online questionnaire to be completed before the pre-anesthesia consultation. The chatbot uses an algorithm to analyze the information collected and alerts doctors to the patient’s risk level through a coded scoring system. Access to information is both simplified and clarified, providing the anesthesiologist with decision-making support to more quickly guide their patients.
MAX Anesthésie has recently been the subject of a clinical study at Toulouse University Hospital (CHU), revealing the impact of the “MyRisk” scoring system for both patients and doctors. BOTdesign has been working for several years with the teams at Toulouse University Hospital to co-develop MAX. Dr. Fabrice Ferré, Anesthesiologist and Intensivist at Toulouse University Hospital (Department of Prof. Vincent Minville), has just published a scientific article related to the use of the MAX Anesthésie solution: “Perioperative Risk Assessment of Patients Using the MyRISK Digital Score Completed Before the Preanesthetic Consultation: Prospective Observational Study“. Full study available here.
  • Based on 16 clinical risk criteria, this score—established before the anesthesia consultation—helps identify patients most at risk of postoperative complications.
  • A personalized care approach based on the MyRISK score could reduce the incidence of postoperative complications in high-risk patients and objectively refer low-risk patients to an anesthesia teleconsultation.
  • A national multicenter clinical study is expected to confirm these results.
According to Dr. Ferré, “The Max information chatbot helps us save time while enhancing the security of collected data. On their side, patients retain the information better and experience reduced preoperative anxiety levels.” This tool thus enables more efficient patient care, better risk assessment, and facilitates medical decision-making.

With this MAX Anaesthesia solution, BOTdesign, already present in 20 establishments (hospitals and clinics) in France, is now deploying at the CHU de Nantes, the Clinique Pasteur and the Clinique Thiers in Bordeaux, as well as at the RAAC unit of the Institut Montsouris.

BOTdesign continues to develop artificial intelligence solutions. Already, more than 100,000 patients and over 600 healthcare professionals are using the digital solution MAX, which enables healthcare and medico-social institutions to configure and coordinate their care pathways (cardiovascular surgery, post-ICU recovery, medication reconciliation, frailty screening, guidance for long COVID patients, screening for nutritional and swallowing disorders in nursing homes, etc.). To keep up this momentum, BOTdesign is currently launching a new fundraising round. The Toulouse-based company aims for strong growth in France and Europe over the next five years.
About BOTdesign: BOTdesign develops innovative digital e-health solutions based on scientifically validated predictive algorithms. The MAX platform, a certified Medical Device, is built around chatbots operating within a certified HDS (Health Data Hosting) environment, an encrypted and secure health data instant messaging system, and dashboard solutions that help healthcare professionals optimize their time by qualifying their active patient files. The company complements these digital tools with expertise in managing integrated and complex projects. BOTdesign was founded in April 2017 by Jean-Louis Fraysse, a pharmacist and specialist in chronic diseases and e-health, and Olivier Thuillart, a biomedical engineer specialized in new technologies applied to healthcare. More broadly, BOTdesign embodies the ability of startups to quickly deliver tailored solutions in times of crisis. These solutions are listed and evaluated by the French Digital Health Council to ensure population safety. The current health emergency highlights the power of digital technology to support healthcare professionals and patients confined away from hospitals. BOTdesign contributes to this effort by deploying connected healthcare services.
